Testing

Impact Damping

This test provides a measure of how much energy is absorbed by the cushion and how much is returned to the occupant’s tissue. Designed to mimic a curb drop.

Impact Damping

Why this test is needed

When a wheelchair drops off a curb, the energy of the impact is transferred through the cushion to the occupant.

How this test is performed

Measures either the force absorbed by the cushion or the energy returned to the occupant. Data is gathered by an accelerometer and reported in “G’s.”
